Hello and welcome, my name is Hilaal, and I established Affiniti Property Group when I found myself at a crossroads in a career I really loved. I made the decision to pivot into property after a challenging shift had me reflecting on the emotional impact of my job, particularly the passing of a baby on the ward. At the time, I was pregnant and the mother of 2 young children, and this experience, along with the long shifts and emotional toll of the role, made me contemplate my future in nursing. Not long after, I handed in my resignation; took some time out to think and then embarked on my journey of self-development.
Pivoting into property felt like natural progression as for many years my husband and I tried to get onto the property ladder, managing to acquire our first property some years ago. This took longer than we would have liked as it was essential for us avoid a mortgage because of our beliefs.
Taking time out to think and connect the dots, set into motion, Affiniti Property Group- and at its core, a unique service, inspired by our challenges in getting onto the property ladder- ‘Buddy up for Success’ is where our network of cash investors, chip in together to purchase properties for mutual gains. Although this service was inspired by our need to avoid a mortgage, we acknowledge this option may be appealing to others for various reasons and therefore include all investors who wish to partake.
Having initially started this journey by myself, I quickly learned I needed other likeminded people to work alongside me so I enlisted the support of my Auntie Zee, as she not only worked in healthcare but also had an interest in property from working with other family members and on her own projects.
Zee, brought a different flavour and dimension, as a Clinician in the NHS who witnessed first-hand how mental health and housing conditions are interlinked, she gained insight from her therapeutic work, giving me another perspective that makes a difference to when accommodating vulnerable people. As a result, Zee’s focus has been to working with housing providers and landlords.
Both Zee and I are fully commitment to the environment and are committed to sustainably- using local products and services where possible, thus reducing emissions as well as using tree planting to support biodiversity.
